Enjoy a great day, Every Day
At nine years old, future world-famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright went for a walk with his uncle through a snowy field. “Notice how your tracks wander aimlessly from the fence to the cattle to the woods and back again,” his uncle remarked. “And see how my tracks aim directly to my goal? There is an important lesson in that.” Years later, Wright shared how the experience greatly contributed to his philosophy in life. “I determined right then not to miss most things in life, as my uncle had.” (Source: Focus on the Family)
Making sure “not to miss” what God has for us in retirement involves some creativity and obedience. For instance, have you considered how giving assets could change lives for the cause of Christ? Many have discovered that donating their retirement assets to ministries they appreciate like Mel Trotter Ministries not only blesses others, it’s good stewardship. By designating a ministry as the beneficiary of your retirement assets, you can avoid unnecessary taxation, freeing up those funds to extend eternal impact at minimal cost to your family.
Psalm 90:12 shows us a simple phrase so we can pray for God’s help to live well: “So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.”
