Senior Director of Human Resources

Full-Time

This position is responsible for overseeing, guiding, and directing the Human Resources and Guest Safety Service departments. It will lead all Human Resource practices to provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.  The position also ensures GSS is actively providing safety and security for the downtown Mission and that its visitors and guests are warmly welcomed and promptly attended to.

Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee, guide, and direct the Human Resources and Guest Safety Service departments
  • Ensure qualified candidates are available for open positions; work collaboratively with management to interview, select, and hire the candidate that fits best
  • Develop, implement, and maintain performance management and improvement processes, including employee/supervisor relations
  • Ensure the human resources function adheres to all applicable laws and regulations; provide education and consultation to management on the same
  • Ensure best practices are in place for new hire orientation and on-boarding
  • Develop and maintain current, accurate, and thorough employment-related documents
  • Oversee administration of compensation and benefit plans, including payroll processing
  • Support the development of an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, and high performance
  • Consult with department heads to ensure all staff are appropriately placed, receive training as needed to perform their job and grow their skills, and receive regular performance feedback including an annual performance evaluation. 
  • Collaborate with the Program Department to maintain unified and consistent practices with regards to guest assistance, interaction, and policy/procedure adherence
  • Be available as needed for after-hours support and consulting on urgent issues or matters of concern
  • Respond to crisis and emergencies that arise, providing assistance and direction
  • Ensure all emergency procedures are maintained and communicated to guests, staff, and volunteers

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive HR experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Strong analytical and reasoning abilities
  • Adapt to changes, delays, or unexpected events in the work environment with grace
  • Experience managing competing priorities
  • Ability to read and interpret financial statements and manage a budget
  • Work history that supports ability to hire, direct and manage associates
  • Ability to build commitment and overcome resistance as needed
  • Exhibit confidence in self and others and create a work environment that inspires success
  • Basic computer knowledge, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Passionate about serving on a team to ensure safety and quality care
  • Must possess excellent communication skills with the appropriate knowledge of how to compassionately work with guests, coworkers, supervisors, families, visitors and others
