Stories of Hope

My name is Michael. I got an early start using alcohol and other drugs. My road downward began when I was 16 years old, when I made alcohol and marijuana the center of my life. As I got older, I moved on to cocaine. The bad news is that I used it for 20 years. In the process I lost everything that was dear to me: friends, family, possessions and my sense of self.

On a typical day I’d wake up and take Xanax and Vicodin to get me going. It was my wake-up cocktail. If I had enough money, I’d go to downtown Detroit and buy some crack cocaine. I would do anything for my drugs—even steal from my family. My highs would last for up to five days. Then the craziness would start all over again.

With that as my background, I think you can see why I’m grateful to you and Mel Trotter Ministries for helping to save my life. My plan obviously was not working. But when I came through these doors, God got my attention.

I’d already been to 12 different rehabs. But Mel Trotter proved to be different. Here I was introduced to the love and power of Jesus Christ. Since the day I allowed Him into my life, I’ve kept my nose in God’s Word. I know my relationship with my Savior will help me get through any challenge I face.

Before I came to Mel Trotter I was running the red lights of life. Now I know where the brake pedal is. I also know God is in control. Now when I see myself in the mirror, I catch a glimpse of someone who loves the Lord and who has been called to be His servant.

I’m so thankful I’m becoming the person God created me to be.
This Christmas will be one of my best ever. I know that for a fact. Thank you for giving me a chance to put my life back on track.
