Duane was in turmoil.  He couldn't keep a job for very long, and he was constantly moving from place to place-all because addiction was running his life.  Even when he could stay clean for a little while, his past always came back to catch him.  But Duane had two things going for him.  First, his family was praying for him constantly, asking God to give him a fresh start.  And second, God was preparing a place for him at Mel Trotter Ministries.

We were ready to take Duane in when he was truly ready to change.  Here, he's learned to spend time with God and fix his mind on his goals so that addiction won't ensnare him again.  He tries to start each day with devotions and listening to what God wants from him.

Today, Duane helps in our computer lab, a very responsible position that allows him to minister to other residents.  He's building a support network of friends and family who will help him stay true to his new goals.  And he's also earnestly asking God if there's a place for him on the mission field in Africa, where he can use his lifelong love of children and his newfound love of God.
