Thanksgiving Banquet Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Registration for 2017 begins September 1.

This community celebration could not take place without our faithful donors. Gather your friends, family, or co-workers and pitch in to cover the cost of sponsoring a table and blessing individuals and families who are in need this holiday.

Table Hosts (10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.) Serve guests their Thanksgiving meal. Visit with the guests at your table and make them feel welcome; help them with anything they may need. Make sure food and drinks are brought to the table at the assigned times. Clean up afterwards. Please note, volunteers do not eat with the guests.

Kitchen (1st Shift: 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m., 2nd Shift: 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.) Help with food preparation, distribution, and clean up in the kitchen.

Kitchen Clean Up Crew (11:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.) Assist with food distribution as well as kitchen organization and clean up once all food has been served in the ballroom.

Greeters (8:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m.) Greet guests and volunteers as they arrive. Help give clear direction and answer questions guests and/or volunteers may have about the day. Assist those with disabilities.

Volunteer Coat Check (1st Shift: 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., 2nd Shift: 11:30 a.m - 2:30 p.m.) Take volunteers coats and give them appropriate return number. Keep coat check room orderly.

Beverage Room (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) Prepare coffee and water for the banquet. Continuously fill water and coffee pitchers as needed. Deliver coffee/water to ballroom for distribution to tables.

Registration (8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) Check in volunteers as they arrive. Direct them to coatcheck, volunteer location and volunteer room.

Friendship Ministry (9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.) Connect with guests during the dinner hour. Share your testimony, get to know them and their stories, demonstrate the compassion of Christ to them, offer to pray for them if the opportunity arises and distribute Bible materials.

Section Leaders (9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.) We need 8 (adult) section leaders (2 per section) to manage a section of the ballroom. You will be the point person for all table hosts in your area. Table hosts will come to you with questions or needs and you will serve as the trouble-shooter and point of contact between table hosts and the kitchen and DeVos / Mel Trotter Staff. If you sign up for this position, you will have a brief training on the day of the event.

Traffic Directors (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) Help direct vehicle traffic and parking the day of the event.

Volunteer Opportunities Prior to Thanksgiving:

Wednesday Food Prep (9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.) Help prepare food the day before Thanksgiving.

Flyer Distribution (November 14) Pass out flyers to promote the event in designated neighborhoods.
