Frequently Asked Questions

What's a Turkey Drop?!

Turkey Drop is an annual tradition in West Michigan. Mel Trotter Ministries, WOOD Radio, and Celebration Cinema partner together for an entire day devoted to collecting frozen turkeys for our neighbors in need in the greater Grand Rapids area. Turkeys are donated by individual community members, churches and businesses in West Michigan. Turkeys will be distributed to our neighbors in need through the MTM food pantry throughout the holiday season so that families may enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas meal. Mel Trotter Ministries will also partner with other local pantries with any extra turkeys that aren't given out in the pantry.

How do I get involved?

Participating in our annual Turkey Drop is easy! All you have to do is drive up and drop off one or more frozen turkeys to Celebration Cinema North or Celebration Cinema South on Wednesday, November 8 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monetary donations are also encouraged at donate.meltrotter.org.

What is the turkey goal this year?

This year, we are aiming to collect 1,500 turkeys! The more turkeys we receive, the more individuals and families will be blessed in our community.

How else may I help?

MTM is also collecting non-perishable food items for its Holiday Food Drive. While picking up your turkey, grab some of your favorite canned goods. More details about the Holiday Food Drive here.

Can I donate to Turkey Drop?

Absolutely! Monetary donations are accepted before, on or after Turkey Drop day. With every $15 donated, we are able to buy at least one turkey.
