Mel Trotter Cafeteria gets fresh updates thanks to Cook Foundation
One of our favorite Bible verses is 2 Corinthians 9:7, ‘For God loveth a cheerful giver.’ We were honored and so pleased to be able to partner with Mel Trotter Ministries to provide a bright, open and modern update to the cafeteria. We’re thankful to help you do the Lord’s work in the downtown neighborhood.– Tom Claus, president of the Cook Foundation

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) - The 4,000+ guests that visit the Mel Trotter Ministries cafeteria each year will experience a lighter, brighter and even more welcoming space thanks to a generous contribution from a local family foundation.
In September, the newly renovated Peter C. and Emajean Cook Cafeteria at Mel Trotter Ministries was re-dedicated. Improvements to the cafeteria include: Original wood floor restoration, replacing and returning windows to original height, reconfiguring the buffet areas, inspirational décor, a new dish return line and a host stand.Img 9144
“A meal can be the very first opportunity we have to build a relationship with our guests who often come to us betrayed, broken and in despair. Around these tables we are able to listen and build relationships that can lead to life-change for the men, women and children we serve,” said Dennis Van Kampen, CEO of Mel Trotter Ministries. “Thanks to the generous $33,000 gift from the Cook Foundation, our guests will experience excellent hospitality and the love of Jesus Christ each time they sit down for a meal.”
Mel Trotter Ministries serves a hot breakfast, lunch and dinner — 400 meals a day, 365 days a year to individuals and families who are working to overcome homelessness.
