James’s Story
I was isolated.
Even after he lost a high paying job as a programmer analyst due to a neck injury, and went through a devastating divorce, James’ faith was unwavering.
He spent 14 months at Mel Trotter Ministries in the Pilgrimage Program, a program for men who are disabled. For more than a year, James coordinated chapel services for the hundreds of men who came to MTM for help and healing.
I always depended on God. I never questioned Him.
James gave up all of his worldly possessions and humbled himself by coming to Mel Trotter Ministries, and here is where he discovered his calling.
“My happiness depends on me feeling like a productive member of society for this temporary life we have.”
James spent many months mentoring young men who utilized the youth emergency shelter, encouraging them in their faith journey and helping them get jobs and housing resources. He moved out into his own apartment in October 2016.
“The Lord brought me here, it wasn’t a coincidence.”
