Jason’s Volunteer Story
Jason’s volunteer journey at Mel Trotter Ministries began during COVID-19 when direct service opportunities were limited, but the need for compassion and support was critical. He began volunteering regularly by managing food donations and organizing the pantry.
With a heart for service, Jason started his business with that at its core, and now he and his team volunteer as often as they can. From picking up furniture donations to preparing for the Easter Community Meal, Jason and his employees are a huge help to what we do at Mel Trotter Ministries. Their efforts extend beyond service—they’ve also played a role in providing hygiene items and other essentials by putting together blessing bags for our guests during Christmas.
When asked about his favorite part of volunteering, Jason said, “You can see the difference you’re making. You can see the smiles on their faces, you see the bigger picture knowing that what you’re doing matters and is important…I think the staff plays a part in that. I think the guests play a part in that.”
A major part of volunteering for Jason is getting the word out about Mel Trotter. “I think that the work they do in the community is valuable. You’re not only giving people resources, education, job opportunities, housing, sometimes basic things like food, but you’re also giving them an opportunity to learn about Christ and make that connection,” he said.
Jason mentioned, “There are so many opportunities here. You can work directly with guests, or you can work behind the scenes. For somebody who is hesitant about volunteering at Mel Trotter, I would say take a chance. When you come through the doors and you meet the staff and guests, you find out it’s probably not what you thought it was going to be, and it is going to be very rewarding and enjoyable.”
Thank you for your dedication and support of Mel Trotter Ministries, Jason!
