Mariah’s Story
After witnessing the traumatic death of her husband when he was run over by a train, Mariah tried to work through her shock for the sake of her three kids. Then, an electrical fire tore through their home, leaving them with no place to live. The family had nothing but a few belongings and one car.
It wasn’t until they found MTM, and the love of supporters like you, that Mariah and her family found hope again. “Everybody is very welcoming,” she said.
“This program is helping me have faith. I see things differently now,” she said. Through our partnership with Family Promise, her family was given a hotel room to stay in before eventually entering our Pathway Home Family Shelter. Thanks to the amazing generosity of friends like you, we were able to help pay their expenses, provide medical care, and search for affordable housing.
MTM provided the family with more than just material support. Mariah will never forget her family’s first dinner at MTM. “It felt good to know that somebody cared about giving us a meal. We ate as a family, all sat down. We actually smiled a lot at dinner,” Mariah reflects.
“The resources are great. The medical clinic downstairs, which is really helping me a lot,” she said.
Her goal is to secure housing, find strength in her faith and keep healing. She is grateful for the necessities that MTM provides. “If I need something, I come and ask, and they provide. We have clean rooms, we have food, we have heat, air conditioning, electricity. A place to lay down and it’s not the back seat of our car,” she said.
“[MTM] has given me hope being here… prevented me from giving up.”
Thanks to the kindness of supporters like you, Mariah and her family have found hope again.
