Catherine’s Health Center at Mel Trotter Ministries
Thanks to a collaboration with Catherine’s Health Center, we offer a free onsite medical clinic in the Heartside Neighborhood of Grand Rapids with a specific focus on low-income households and those experiencing homelessness. Catherine’s partners with Mel Trotter Ministries nursing staff and Trinity Health for expanded hours and services. Walk-in appointments are available. For a wider array of services, please consider calling for an appointment.

New Hope Sobering Center
The New Hope Sobering Center is available to any individual who is profoundly intoxicated or under the influence of illicit substances. The Sobering Center offers a safe and quiet diversion from the hospitals, jails and streets. Individuals admitted to the Sobering Center are provided with a dignified space to sleep, eat a nutritious meal, shower and receive a change of clothing. Everyone entering the Sobering Center is assessed for readiness to change, and in partnership with Network 180, also have the opportunity to meet with an onsite recovery coach.
Staffed with licensed nurses 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
New Hope Sobering Center has been in existence for over 20 years and is supported by Trinity Health, University of Michigan Health-West, the City of Grand Rapids, and Network 180.

Sharon smiled at every person who came through her line for COVID-19 screening and testing at Mel Trotter Ministries. She chatted with each one, asked how they were doing, did her best to make everyone feel at ease and cared for. Doing so is her job as a patient service representative for Binson Nursing and Staffing, but it’s also because she knows and loves Mel Trotter Ministries.
